Research Interest Groups
These interest groups reflect the current interests of Centre members. They aim to provide networking opportunities for the development of research bids or publications. You can read more about these groups by following this link.
Research Programmes and Projects
Members of the Centre have active research links with other Centres internationally. Currently, Allison James has a Professor 2 appointment at the Norwegian Centre for Childhood Research (NOSEB) in Trondheim where she is involved in establishing research initiatives and links.
The Centre also has links with the Centre for Childhood and Adolescence in Cyprus, where Allison James has become a member of their Advisory Council.
The Centre is also a member of ICYRnet.
Members of the Centre are involved a wide range of research projects and programmes. At the core of this work is a strong commitment to:
- Involving children and young people in the research process and developing approaches that give centre focus to the 'voice of the child'.
- Increasing our understanding of childhood and youth in modern society
- Creating evidence and knowledge that can inform policy and practice in children and young people's services.

Research Seminars
The centre runs an ongoing series of research seminars.
CSCY is taking part in the ESRC Seminar Series entitled: 'Generating alternative discourses of childhood as a resource for educational policy making'. Follow this link for details.

Conferences
Every year/month/summer, the Centre organises a International Conference. The 4th International Conference will be held in 2012. Details are available. There are also reports about past conferences in 2006 and 2008.

'Childhoods Today' E-journal
Childhoods Today is a new e-journal published, bi-annually in the first instance, by the Centre for the Study of Childhood and Youth at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdon, and supported by the World Universities Network.
